Volunteering at The Greenhouse

Volunteers play an important part at The Greenhouse by providing essential support and services that help us to look after so many aspects of what we do at The Greenhouse.
Not only that, volunteers are part of our community, receiving as well as giving to the life at The Greenhouse. Their work here is meaningful, benefitting both the individual and the community. Our beautiful grounds and gardens are such a essential part of what is so special about The Greenhouse; and they are entirely looked after by our volunteers.
On a volunteer day earlier this year, volunteers created this Prayer Labyrinth out of cut logs for our visitors to use.

Team and Employee supported volunteering

We welcome teams of volunteers from companies and organisations that encourage their employees to volunteer.
We recently had a return visit from BT Openreach employees, who spent the day volunteering with us and made fantastic progress on a number of garden and grounds projects. It was great to share our quiet, peaceful place with them and they had a really positive day.
Contact Caroline, Volunteer Coordinator for more information.
Our volunteer community is growing!
We now have 29 volunteers supporting us in a number of volunteering roles, both monthly and weekly. BT Openreach joined us for our June volunteer day and achieved wonderful results in our grounds, and were a joy to host. A group of young care leavers gave us their time during a wellbeing day they had with us at The Greenhouse which was brilliant for us and they will be able to use the experience to support job seeking.
Our Greenhouse faith community volunteer with us every month on a Sunday afternoon, alongside volunteers. It’s a lovely afternoon of friendship and community that ends with conversation and cake!
New volunteers are joining us alongside those who have supported us for a long time, in particular Roger who leads our grounds activities and keeps our large amount of grass regularly mowed, quite an undertaking.
So far in 2026 (until the end of July 2026) we have received over 680 hours of volunteer time. A huge thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers for their time and energies, and we look forward to welcoming more.
